Terhune (MARY VIRGINIA Marion Harland)

MARY VIRGINIA, ("Marion Harland"), an American author; born in Amelia co., Va., Dec. 21, 1831; received an academic education, and early began to write for 1 TERHUNE ALBERT PAYSON TERHUNE the press. She contributed extensively to numerous magazines, was for several years the editor of "Babyhood" and "The Home Maker"; conducted departments in "Wide Awake" and "St. Nicholas"; and served on the editorial staff of the Chicago "Tribune." Her publications include: "The Story of Mary Washington"; "A Gallant Fight"; "A Story Without a Moral"; "Where Ghosts Walk" (1910); "The Long Lane" (1915).
