Thompson (JOHN POLK an Ameri- What He)

JOHN POLK, an Ameri- What He Says"; "Plu-Ri-Bus-Tah," a 1848, and assumed charge of the Sprague New York"; "Nothing to Say"; "The Elein 1838; came to the United States in 1848, and assumed charge of the Sprague Cotton Mill in Baltic, Conn., in 1864.

Subsequently he was president of the cal devices, each of which produced a mills, and invented 14 distinct mechanical devices, each of which produced a radical improvement ment in methods of carding, stop and let-off motions, and selfthreading shuttles. He died in Olneyville, R. I., Sept. 16, 1899.
