Thompson (SIR JOHN SPARROW Halifax Nova)

SIR JOHN SPARROW Halifax, Nova Scotia, Nov. 10, 1844; was called to the bar in 1865; elected to the executive council and to the office of attorney-general of Nova Scotia in 1878; judge of the Supreme Court in 1882; and in 1895 became minister of justice and attorney-general of Canada. He was a member of the Provincial Assembly of Nova Scotia in 1877-1882; was elected to the Dominion Parliament in 1885, 1887, and 1891; was attached to the British Fishery Commission at Washington, D.

C., in 1887; represented Great Britain before the Bering Sea Arbitration Tribunal, in Paris in 1893, and in 1894 was made a member of the Queen's Privy Council. He died in Windsor, England, Dec. 12, 1894.
