Alum Poultice

Take of alum, in fine powder, 1 drachm avoirdupois, and the white of 2 eggs; shake them together until they coagulate. Formerly much used in broken chilblains, chaps, sore nipples, chronic inflammation of the eyes, &c., applied on linen, and covered with a piece of fine muslin.
