Chilblain Ointment

Take of ointment. (See No. 4942.) For dispersing gall-nuts, in very fine powder, 1 drachm glandular tumors, &c., which it is not desiraavoirdupois; spermaceti cerate (see No. ble to mature. 4933), 7 drachms; mix, add pure glycerine, 4944. Ammoniacal Ointment. Melt 4944.

Ammoniacal Ointment. Melt 2 drachms, and rub the whole to a uniform 1 ounce each of suet and lard, in a strong mass. An excellent application to obstinate wide-mouthed bottle; add 2 ounces liquor of broken chilblains, particularly when used as a ammonia of specific gravity .923, and close , and close dressing. When the parts are very painful, 1 ounce of compound ointment of galls may be advantageously substituted for the galls and cerate ordered above. (See No. 5006.) the bottle immediately. Then mix, by shaking the bottle, until the contents harden. The fat should not be heated any more than is sufficient to melt it, to prevent unnecessary loss of ammonia. 4945.
