Cinchonine, or Cinchonia

This is the active principle of Peruvian bark, contained in the largest quantity in the pale bark. It crystallizes in small, brilliant, transparent, ALKALOIDS. four-sided prisms, insoluble in ether. Cinchonicine and cinchonidine are other varieties of this alkaloid.
