Extract of Rose

Bruise 2 ounces of hundred-leaved rose-leaves; make an extract from them by macerating in 1 quart deodorized alcohol; press the quart of alcohol out, and add to it 1 drachm oil of rose, and filter through paper. If there are no red rose leaves, a little tincture of cochineal will give a pale rose tint.
