Gold Lacquer (Ground turmeric strongly)

Ground turmeric, 1 pound; gamboge, 1½ ounces; gum sandarach, 3½ pounds shellac 3/4 pound; all in powder; rectified spirit of wine, 2 gallons. Dissolve, strain, and add turpentine varnish, 1 pint.
