Grahame's Elixir of Bismuth
Dissolve 10 minims oil cf orange flowers, 1 drop oil of cinnamon, 1 drop oil of cloves, and 2 drops oil of anise, in 1½ fluid drachms syrup, and shake the mixture well. Dissolve 136 grains ammonio-citrate of bismuth in 2 fluid ounces distilled water and 1½ fluid ounces rose-water, adding sufficient aqua ammonia to produce a perfect solution, Mix the two solutions, add 14 fluid ounces alcohol, Take 20 pounds powdered guaiac, 2 pounds camphor, 6 pounds powdered cayenne pepper, cayenne pepper, 1 pound caustic liquor of ammonia, and 1/2 , and fluid ounces pound powdered opium digest these ingrethese ingredients in 32 gallons alcohol for 2 weeks, and filter.
