Guffin. The Cornish word for groundbait.

Killick. A stone or other contrivance used as an anchor.

Leader. The American word for the length of wire or gut to which the hook is attached.

Lythe. The Scotch name for pollack.

Paternoster. - A tackle of two or three hooks strung at intervals on a length of gut or wire, with a pear-shaped lead below. railing.

Plummeting.- The Cornish word for mackerel- Railing.-Trailing a natural or artificial bait behind a sailing boat.
