Harmonici (Gr.) (har-mon-i-kee)
The followers of Aristoxenus, as opposed to the Canonici (ka-non-i-kee), the followers of Pythagoras. The former taught that music was governed by its appeal to the ear, the latter that it was a matter for mathematical and arithmetical study only.
