GENTLEMEN-Inclosed please fine $750, in notes of San Francisco banks, which I will thank you to place to my credit, as the first installment upon my bill, now overdue nearly two months. The balance will be remitted during the second week in February, if not before that time. I regret the inconvenience caused you by my delay, which is a result of our system of long credits, and entirely beyond my power to control.
