Anchor
A name frequently given to studs and chaplets generally, but more correctly applied to any special contrivance for maintaining isolated portions of a mould which, but for such means, would be forced out of position. A core is anchored down when its security depends on a bolt, or wire, which binds it to the mould. See CHAPLET.
