Cutter
A sharp, curved tool for carving gates in the sand. Some are made exclusively for this purpose in steel or brass; others are merely a sharp-edged piece of tin or copper-plate that may be bent to any desirable shape. At best, such tools as "gate cutters" can only be called a make-shift; the cleaner and more artistic method of forming gates is to ram them along with the pattern. See GATES.
