Pyrometer
An instrument for measuring temperatures beyond the ability of mercury to indicate. The older instruments of this class, such as the Wedgwood, Daniell's, etc., have been superseded by others based on the expansion of gases or on the electrical properties of bodies. Quadrant is the fourth part of the circumference of a circle; an arc of 90 degrees.
