Red Brass
The common red brass called red tombac, used for cheap jewelry, is composed of copper 11, zinc 1. Red sheet brass is copper 11, zinc 2. A good red brass for turning: copper 24, zinc 5, lead 8. Red brass for fine castings: copper 24, zinc 5, bismuth 1, the latter to be added just before pouring. See TOMBAC.
