Tin Enamel
A pottery enamel consisting principally of tin oxide. The Saracens first used it to embellish their pottery-ware, but the Italians were finally successful in discovering the secret of its production, and used the enamel on their famed Majolica ware about the year 1600. See ENAMEL.
