Wharton, Edith Jones
Edith Jones (1862-), an American novelist. She was born in New York and was educated at private schools. In 1885 she married Edward Wharton and has since resided abroad for the most part. Her novels have been published in this country, many of them appearing serially in various periodicals. The Greater Inclination, The Valley of Decision, Sanctuary, The Touchstone, House of Mirth, and Fruit of the Tree may be mentioned among them.
