PNEUMATIC to be paid by a sales tax, but this met with opposition, and on March 23, 1922, a bonus bill was passed by the House of Representatives providing for the payment of about $4,000,000,000 extending over a period of twenty years. Only a fraction of this sum was to be paid immediately in cash, four options being given, namely: service certificates, payable in twenty years, and with provisions for loans in the meantime; vocational training; farm and home aid; aid; and credits in the purchase of public lands.
