THOMAS STARR, an American clergyman; born in New York City, Dec. 17, 1824. During the Civil War he worked earnestly ly for the Union cause and was the chief factor in raising large sums of money for the United States Commission. Author Sanitary "White Hills, Their Legends, Landscapes and Poetry." His writings were published under the title of "Patriotism and Other Papers." He died March 4, 1864. of
