Tenedos
an island of Greece, on the W. coast of Asia Minor; 15 miles S. W. of the Dardanelles, about 6 miles long and 3 miles broad. The channel which separates it from the mainland is 3 miles broad. The interior of the island is very fertile, and is remarkable for the excellence of its wines. Corn, cotton, and fruits are also produced. On the E. side of the island, near the sea, is the town of Tenedos. It was occupied by Greece during the Balkan War and by the treaty with Turkey in 1920 became a Greek possession. Pop. about 5,000.
