Carbonate of Baryta

A heavy white powder found in the crude state abundantly in nature, and sufficiently pure for general purposes. The pure carbonate may be precipitated from a solution of chloride of barium by the addition of any pure alkaline carbonate, washing and drying the product. (Cooley.)
