An elegantly appointed galley of the Doge of Venice, and in which he received the senate, ambassadors, and other dignitaries. In the great ceremony on Ascension Day the Doge always threw a ring into the sea from the poop of this vessel, to espouse the waters and to proclaim dominion over the Gulf of Venice.
