Ecliptic

An imaginary great circle of the heavens or of the sphere, which represents the path described by the earth among the fixed stars in its annual revolution around the sun. The ecliptic intersects the equinoctial at an angle of about 23 1/2 deg. The ecliptic is the apparent path of the sun about the earth.
