An apparatus consisting of a small glass tube, the ends of which are held water-tight in metal connections, which, in turn, are secured to the boiler-shell, one above and the other below the water-line. A hole through all allows the water to stand at the same height in the boiler and tube. Literally the gauge glass is the glass tube only.
