Sea Terms
The code of signals adopted by all maritime nations for communicating with vessels at sea, stations along shore, etc. The "Code" consists of the following flags and shapes, and from which 78,642 combinations can be made: 1 burgee, 4 pennants, and 13 square flags. An additional bunting, used both as a "Code" pennant and an answering-signal, is provided. (See engravings.)
