Raffee Rail

Sea Terms

A sail in the shape of an equilateral triangle ?? which is sometimes set over the highest yard. The foot of the raffee is spread by the yard, and the head, or apex of the sail, hoists directly in front of the mast. This sail is common to English schooner yachts rigged to carry a squaresail, as the raffee is set over the yard.
