Socket Bolt

A stay-bolt through two parallel flat surfaces of a boiler, holding them together against internal pressure. There is a head on one end, the other being rivetd over. Between the two sheets and about the bolt is a sleeve called a socket. A screw stay-bolt screwed through both plates has no socket about it.
