Melopiano
A piano-forte in which a continuous tone was produced by a series of small hammers which struck rapidly repeated blows on the strings. Invented by Caldara in 1870. It was re-invented in 1893 by Hlavac of St. Petersburg, and exhibited at the Columbian Exposition, where it attracted great attention.
