Value. .. £4 o 20 o Ο Belgium was the prime mover in bringing about the LATIN MONETARY UNION which was inaugurated by a convention signed at Paris, December 23, 1865, between France, Italy, Belgium, and Switzerland, whereby the coinage of the four countries was assimilated in value, and that of each country made legal tender in all of the others. The union expires in 1895 if notice is given in 1894, otherwise it continues for periods of 15 years.
