Tincture of Guaiac

Reduce 6 troy ounces guaiac to a moderately coarse 4495. Compound Tincture of Black powder, mix it with an equal bulk of dry sand, Pepper. This is prepared with 30 parts pack the mixture moderately in a conical percapsicums; 40 parts black pepper; 15 parts colator; and, having covered it with a layer each grains of paradise, cinnamon, ginger, of sand, gradually pour alcohol upon it until and calamus; 15 parts by measure acetate of 2 pints of tincture are obtained.
