Lines of a Vessel

Drawings which show the lines of a vessel comprise three separate plans, depending one upon the other, and which must correspond in all particulars and be used in conjunction. These three plans are known as the shear plan, body plan, and half-breadth plan. The first shows the outline of the longitudinal vertical section; the second shows the vertical cross-sections, and the third shows the longitudinal transverse section of the vessel at the deck-line, the water-line, and at other stations on the same plane as the water-line.
