Sea Terms

Ropes used for various purposes on board ship and known as head-lines. bow-lines, breast-lines, quarter-lines, stern-lines, bunt-lines, clew-lines, leach-lines, spilling-lines, towing-lines, hauling-lines, tripping-lines, etc. Also one or more vessels belonging to a particular firm and engaged in regular trade between two or more ports, as the Red "D" Line.
