Walker's Converter
This converter differs from the Bessemer and others in having a straight neck, so that it can be charged or poured from either side. This equalizes the wear on the lining. See BESSEMER STEEL. Wall-cranes are a very handy and important addition to the foundry or the forge. They can be arranged so that the large jib or traveller will pass over them in the performance of the heaviest work, leaving the moulders engaged on the light and medium classes of moulding to continue their operations uninterruptedly.
